A man has been arrested for ‘motoring offences and other matters’ following a two and a half hour stand-off on the roof of a gym in Wrexham earlier today.

North Wales Police were called to Rivulet Road, Wrexham at 12:18pm this afternoon following reports of a man who was refusing to come down off the roof of a gym. The man had gained entry to the roof area by the Powerzone Gym on Rivulet Road in Wrexham, close to where new lockup units have been built.

The road was cordoned off to the public and traffic, with eyewitness reports stating that items were being thrown off the top of the roof by the male.

Officers and negotiators remained at the scene engaging with the man over two and a half hours, before he came down from the roof shortly before 3pm.

A spokesperson for North Wales Police said: “The man has come down from the roof. He was arrested for motoring offences and other matters as well as being wanted on a recall to prison. He has been taken into custody in Wrexham.”
