A local centre for children and young people with disabilities has been awarded over £950,000.

Dynamic has benefited from the Big Lottery Fund’s (BIG) Bright New Futures programme which has made over £14 million available for projects across Wales. The programme intends to work with young parents and young disabled people aged 14-25 and specifically aims to build resilience and empower young people so they have the knowledge and ability to manage key transitions in their lives.

Based on Salisbury Road in Wrexham, Dynamic is a charitable organisation who provide out of school activities for children and young people with special needs. They work in partnership with statutory agencies, the voluntary sector and the community to provide a lively, safe environment in which the members, their families and friends can benefit from an enhanced quality of life.

The lottery funding received by Dynamic will aim to support 270 young disabled people living in Wrexham. It aims to support individuals with their transition into adulthood by helping them design and implement their own transition plans. Each young person will have a support worker to assist them in achieving their personal targets and goals.

The Big Lottery funds projects set out in policies defined by the Welsh Government connected to health, education, environment and charitable purposes. Since its inception, BIG has delivered over £600 million for good causes across Wales.

Assembly Member for Wrexham, Lesley Griffiths is a supporter of the charity and said: “The latest programme of lottery funding has offered thousands of young people with disabilities in Wales a better chance of building a brighter future and I am pleased some of Wrexham’s most vulnerable people are benefiting directly from the financial boost.

“I know Dynamic have been keen to expand and improve their facilities and the funding enables the charity to move from strength to strength.

“The future for Dynamic is positive and I will continue to do all I can to support this wonderful service.”
