An event that aims to showcase the best that Wrexham has to offer will take place at Glyndwr University next month.

‘Made in Wrexham’, which has been organised by third year Business and Event Management students aims to showcase local talent, including industry leaders, musicians and sports and social organisations.

‘Made in Wrexham’ will take place on March 8th and will run from 10am until 2pm in the main building on the Plas Coch campus. ‘Made in Wrexham’ will also coincide with the University’s Open Day.

The celebration aims to provide a platform for businesses and charities to drum up interest and talk about what they do.

The Made in Wrexham team hopes it will not only help to raise the town’s profile but also benefit prospective students by giving them an insight into university life.

Project manager Alexandra Huffen said: “The whole team is really excited to be working on this event. We know Wrexham is a lively, friendly town with a lot to offer and Glyndŵr University is a great place to study. We want to share our positive experiences with people and help Wrexham and Glyndŵr get the recognition they deserve.

“This is about bringing together the best the town has to offer, so we’re urging anyone who cares about Wrexham to get in touch and help us. We will have lots of stalls and activities that show-off the town and prove what a great place it is.”

During the course of the day musicians will perform live and current students will be on hand to offer advice and answer any questions prospective students may have.

The group will also highlight the work of local producers, successful companies, sporting legends and Glyndŵr University alumni, including Downton Abbey director Brian Percival.

The event itself forms part of the Business and Event Management degree and was created by the students, who hope it will go on to become an annual event.

Alexandra said: “During our time here at Glyndŵr we were disappointed to find that Wrexham is often overlooked and is sometimes painted in a negative light.
“We want people, especially prospective students, to experience the side of Wrexham that is not heard about enough. The message is that Wrexham is a great place to live, work and study in.”
