Lorry overturns on Gledrid A5 / A483 roundabout

6.44am Update: 

Latest travel report states:

‘A5 Southbound closed, slow traffic due to overturned lorry between A483 (Halton Roundabout, Chirk) and B5070 Chirk Road / Station Road (Gledrid Roundabout, Oswestry). Approach with care.

The lorry overturned at around 01:00 on the Gledrid roundabout, shedding its load of cheese. The load was removed and officers are on scene arranging recovery of the lorry and possible road repairs.’

1:15am Update: In a Twitter update Traffic Wales said; ‘A5 : Both directions : Halton (A483) to Chirk Gledrid : Incident : Accident : Road closed :’ further information on the Traffic Wales website states the road is likely to be clear by 5am.

11:43pm Update: Thanks to Helena for letting us know that the road is now clear after the earlier incident.

A lorry has overturned this evening on the A5/A483 Gledrid roundabout between Oswestry and Chirk, with the incident occurring just before 9:30pm.

There are no formal updates, however as of 10pm one lane of traffic is passing southbound with no problem. Emergency services are on the scene as pictured, with recovery yet to take place as of 11pm.
