Summer Afternoon in Acton Park Crowned June Winner of Wonders of Wrexham Calendar Competition
A long summer afternoon in one of Wrexham most loved parks, has been crowned the June winner of the Wonders of Wrexham Calendar competition.
The image was captured by Helen Roberts, who took the shot at Acton Park at the end of a long summers afternoon out with her children and friends.
The judges thought the photo captured those long hot days we had in June, when temperatures soared and the barbecues were out most evenings.
Helen said: “Acton Park is very close to my heart. This photo was just one of those shots where you really capture the moment and mood, and I am so pleased to have won.
“I have entered several photographs into the competition before, but this one was my favourite and I’m glad the judges agreed with me.
“I can’t wait to see the finished calendar and wish other amateur photographers all the best with their entries.”
There is still time for amateur photographers across the county borough to submit their entries for the July round of the Wonders of Wrexham 2018 Calendar competition.
The competition was launched at the beginning of November following the news that North Wales is ranked fourth in the world of regions to visit. Staff at the time thought it only right that Wrexham celebrated its place in the world with a snap shot record of Wrexham throughout the year.
One winner is selected each month and their picture will be used as that month’s feature-photograph in the 2018 calendar.
Entries should be sent to [email protected] by the last day of the month.
There’s no prize for the winners, except all 12 will receive a copy of the calendar when it’s produced, with their photograph and name featured.
All profits from the sale of the calendar will be donated to the Mayor’s chosen charities.
Terms and conditions are available on the council’s main website at www.wrexham.gov.uk
