A lollipop lady has sustained injuries after she was hit by a car in Gwersyllt earlier this afternoon.

The incident took place outside Gwersyllt school on Dodds Lane earlier this afternoon, causing the road to be temporarily closed off.

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 3pm this afternoon, following reports a pedestrian had been struck by a car.

It is believed the woman has sustained a serious broken ankle, however the injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 3.04pm today to reports a car had collided with a pedestrian near Gwersyllt CP School on Dodds Lane in Gwersyllt. We responded with a paramedic in a rapid response car and a crew in an emergency ambulance, and a woman in her 40s with serious but non-life threatening injuries was taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital.”
