A Wrexham-based organisation has held a special event to celebrate the achievements of their volunteers.

Groundwork North Wales invited volunteers from across the region to attend the event, held at Alyn Waters Country Park Visitor Centre near Gwersyllt.

Wrexham Assembly Member Lesley Griffiths joined in with the celebrations and awarded the deserving individuals their certificates of achievement.

Groundwork works alongside various bodies and organisations to support communities in need. The projects they undertake help create better neighbourhoods, and the volunteers that take part build skills and improve their job prospects in the process.

Last year, Groundwork North Wales volunteers gave over 10,500 hours of their time to help individuals and communities across the region.

After the presentation ceremony, AM for Wrexham Lesley Griffiths said: It was great to be invited by Groundwork North Wales to celebrate all the volunteers’ fantastic achievements. They fully deserve the recognition after all the hard work they have undertaken within their communities.

“The event was a great success and it was good to be able to join in and say thank you to so many volunteers.”
