Local Media Review 11th-22nd June

This is Wrexham.com’s quick run down of the fun & fabulous stuff we have spotted in the local media which we encounter – usually the Leader, Post , local radio stations , BBC News etc. If you have spotted something good, bad or funny in the local media get in touch with us and we will pop it up here!

Wednesday 13th June

The Daily Post carried a story about how Eagles Meadow claims to have pumped £500m into the Wrexham economy. Whilst we wouldn’t question whether such amounts have been made by shops in the centre it is certainly disputable whether the money has found its way back into the local economy or rather is absorbed by multi national companies. We would like to see a better break down of where the money actually goes.

Tuesday 19th June

The Leader covered our story on Asda’s parking charge reversal six days after our coverage which helped get it overturned. However, they did neglect to mention one important point that private parking charge notices are in fact speculative invoices rather than actual parking tickets. We did tweet them to let them know, but didn’t hear back. If you want the full facts have a nose at our article.

Thursday 21st June

On Thursday’s Leader front page they incorrectly named a midwife accused of putting patients at risk as “Jennifer Bannister” despite carrying the correct name of Helen Bannister on page two. If our media law serves us correctly they could be in trouble in the unlikely event that there was a local midwife named Jennifer Bannister.

Friday 22nd June

Friday’s Leader billboard had more than a touch of the tabloids about it.
