Wrexham’s Assembly Member Lesley Griffiths has been replaced as Welsh Government Health Minister by Professor Mark Drakeford, AM for Cardiff West.

It has been announced her new role will be the Local Government Minister, the office previously held by Alyn and Deeside’s AM Carl Sargeant who is the new Housing and Regeneration Minister

The reshuffle is taking place this afternoon, with news breaking just before 3pm of intended changes.

Twitter was used to make the changes public, something we think is possibly a first. This did however bring about a tit-for-tat style tweet battle between the Welsh Conservaties and Welsh Labour:

The Welsh Conservatives also tweeted the @HealthMinWales account of Ms Griffiths prior to the reshuffle results being announced asking ‘How’s things?’.

Lesley Griffiths was appointed Deputy Minister for Science, Innovation and Skills in December 2009 with a promotion to the Minister for Health and Social Services in 2011.
