List of Wrexham school closures for Tuesday 12th December – Yellow ice warning in place

Many schools have said they are closing tomorrow (Tuesday 12th) as well as having been closed today.

The closure list for today emerged on Sunday afternoon and throughout the evening, and much like yesterday we will be updating this list through the evening as and when schools declare their position.

An issue with the Council’s website meant that this morning Wrexham.com was the only location to get the full closure list, so it is worth noting that if the information on the Council site zeros at midnight it does not automatically mean there has been a change in status at schools.

We have had several people in touch reading old articles over the last few days (thus the more blatant title!) but would encourage those who use social media to keep in touch to look at sources of information direct and check dates – as you could not be getting the most current information.

A Yellow Warning is in place until 11am tomorrow morning for ice, with temperatures to hit -3 in Wrexham overnight and into the morning.

During the 7am to 9am period the temperature is due to be -3C and with added wind chill, is predicted to feel more like -6C.

From 5am to 8am there is forecasts of light snowfall in the Wrexham area.

Glyndwr University has said “All campuses will be open tomorrow (Tuesday) and lectures are expected to take place.”

Coleg Cambria told us “All our sites are closed to staff and students tomorrow due to icy conditions forecast tonight, please see our website for full details – www.wrexham.com.”

As always parents should have various digital notifications in place to inform them direct, however below is the list we are collating and updating this evening on schools that come under Wrexham Council control.

We will be updating this list through the evening, with the latest changes at the top.

Some schools have not yet updated their status from today (when they were closed).

List below last updated 6:40pm 7:50pm 9pm 9:30pm 10pm… 9am (although due to error on Council site not all information is being displayed)

Maelor School Penley has told us “we are open too”! They have now said they are closed this morning.

We have also been passed this update: “Strafford’s coaches operating school runs tomorrow , picking up from Main road pick up points only , we will Not be going to Gwynfryn Minera or Bwlchgwyn children need to go to Five Crosses Coedpoeth bus stop please , we will not be going to College Hill Tanyfron main roads only please share with any parents with children at Ysgol Clywedog , St Mary’s Wrexham , St Joesph’s , Bryn Alyn School , Ysgol Morgan Llwyd & Ysgol Bryn Tabor”
