Armed police were today sighted in and around the Wrexham Industrial Estate, causing concern over why they were there.

Rumours have circulated this afternoon to the exact reason, with some factories reportedly ‘locked down’ to protect workers as ‘police snipers’ were sighted. One report to us from someone who works on the industrial estate mentioned that a fellow worker at a factory though they had been ‘shot at’ by an air rife.

Chief Inspector Darren Wareing of North Wales Police this evening said “We were informed shortly after 3.30pm today that shots were heard fired near the Wrexham Industrial Estate.”

“Officers attended and inquiries were undertaken in the area. It transpired that a man had been shooting in the area with a legally held firearm. No damage has been caused and no arrests were made.”

We are also told this afternoon police responded to several cows on the loose in the Oak Road area of the estate, in a similar area to where the firearm response was active, causing further conflicting reports of what was going on with the police response.
