The latest pictures of the transformation of the Peoples Market have been released – and today is the last chance to have your say via vote on what the name should be!

Yesterday saw a brief update presentation by Wrexham Council to members of the Town Centre Forum, with the below pictures taken earlier yesterday morning of a look inside at the work that has taken place so far.

The top picture shows the outer purple cladding of the main gallery inside the former market space, a similar picture was presented of inside the gallery space indicating how big the area was. It was noted that the gallery space will be climate controlled allowing special exhibits to be displayed.

Various other shots were shown including some wooden clad market stall space, with comments from Forum members on the modern finish.

The below picture shows the area between some stalls, however it was pointed out that due to the work taking place various air conditioning ducts were still to be fitted so does not give a true representation of the space.

Other stalls will have a blockwork finish, as below, with a metal mesh above the stalls allowing signage to be attached – again with a modern look and feel.

One main element of work that has taken place is to double height an area of the former market space, with this picture looking towards Market Street. The second floor has been removed and will eventually be a full height glass entrance area with a ‘bridge’ over the space. Workmen have apparently commented even with the work part done on this section of the project the overall space is much brighter.

Work was described as being very much on budget and to plan, with construction firm Wynne described as ‘cracking on’.

A programme of events is already planned for the first two years of operation for the yet unnamed centre.

The shortlisted three names – Cartref, Oriel M and Tŷ Pawb – were unveiled at a public information event, and you have until the end of today to vote!

You can cast your vote online by clicking here, or if you are the Play Day event today you can cast a vote in person!
