Large power cut hits ‘wide area’ of Wrexham

UPDATE: SP Energy say their team has managed to restore power to a number of properties in the area and are still working to repair an underground cable fault affecting the rest of their customers without power, “We now expect all power to be back on as quickly and as safely as possible by 1:00AM.”

A large area of Wrexham is without power this evening.

SP Energy say: “Monitoring systems on our network have alerted us to an unexpected fault affecting a number of customers over a wide area. We apologise for the inconvenience caused, our emergency response teams have been notified and we expect your supply to be restored by 22:30”

“We did not know in advance there would be a power cut.

“Our control centre will attempt to reset the network remotely to restore power in stages, and we will also send our next available engineer to attend site. Our team will work to get your power back on as quickly and as safely as possible.

“We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.”

Power went off around 8:25pm.
