The annual Service of Remembrance took place at the Royal Welch Fusiliers Memorial in town this morning.

The service took place at the Royal Welch Fusiliers Memorial on Bodhyfryd this morning with parades through town.

At the well attended service a bugler sounded the “Last Post”, followed by a two minute silence.

Reverend Dr Jason Bray, Vicar of St Giles’ Parish Church, and Reverend Canon Simon R P Treloar, Wrexham Cathedral Dean took the service.

Pupils representing Darland High School, said: “They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.”

The Mayor followed by others in the Mayoral Party laid wreaths on the Royal Welch Fusiliers Memorial, along with other representatives.

Later the salute was taken by the Mayor, Colonel N J Lock, OBE, the Vice Lord Lieutenant of Clwyd and the Chief Executive of Wrexham Council.

Tomorrow sees Armistice Day being remembered with a service on Queen’s Square and the air raid siren will be sounded for that event at 11am.
