There are just days left to take part in Wrexham Council’s ‘Difficult Decisions’ consultation and have your say on how savings of £9 million could be made.

Over the past few weeks Wrexham.com have published a series of articles on budget proposals including changes to bin collections, council tax increases and a review into the library services and a review into transport to faith schools , to help raise awareness of what changes be on the cards in the council’s future budget.

There are also a series of additional proposals, which don’t feature as specific questions in the consultation, including:

– £5000 saving by ‘Transfer Trevor toilets to Canal River Trust’.
– Tennis Centre will see a £13k saving by ceasing contribution for Tennis Development Officer.
– Several vacant council job ‘deletions’ to save £238k
– Nearly £100k saved by reducing training and development for staff, ‘reducing commissioned training and provide more-in house’ along with ‘Reduce spend on health and safety, cease face to face training and increase the use of eLearning.’
– The ‘Senior Management Restructure’ will see savings of £130k

These savings are in addition to the £33.8 million worth of cuts and savings made locally over the past five years – with an additional £9 million required between 2019/20.

How can I take part in Wrexham Council’s Difficult Decisions 2019/20 Consultation?

You can complete the consultation / read some further information about the proposals on the Your Voice Wrexham website.

Paper copies are also available by request by calling 01978 292000.

You have until November 28th to have your say on the potential changes to bin collections – and other proposals.

Once the consultation closes, the results will be analysed and findings presented to all councillors in December.

These findings will help shape the decision making process for the budget for 2019/20. This will then be presented to the executive board in January 2019 for approval before being formally signed off by Full Council in February 2019.

So don’t just sit on social media and wait until the decisions have been made for you – have your say in the consultation now!
