A group of individuals who have been making a big difference to people’s lives in a Wrexham based hospice for decades have been recognised for their inspirational work.

Nurses from Nightingale House Hospice were nominated for an ASDA Hidden Hero Award by the supermarket giant’s community champion, Mary Williams.

The award, which is part of a campaign to commend the hard work of those who dedicate their time to helping others saw more than 40 nurses and clinical volunteers celebrated for their support across the North Wales community.

After the nomination, Mary, surprised the Nightingale House team with the award itself and a giant tub of appropriately named chocolates.

Mary said: “The nurses from Nightingale House Hospice have played a critical part in the lives of many people right across North Wales for more than 20 years and they are, quite simply, our hidden hero’s.

“They literally work nonstop for the people in their care as well as their families and we feel that it is so important to take the time to say at the very least, thank you. It really is a privilege to use this very special message of Asda Hidden Heroes to reward the nurses of Nightingale House who make such a difference throughout the year.”

Cath, a Nightingale Nurse said: “All of the nurses are really thrilled and humbled at being nominated as hidden heroes. It’s a real team effort at Nightingale House and we love the community that we have here.

“We do not seek praise or credit for the work that we do but it is always welcome when our dedication is recognised. Our thanks go to Mary and all of the Asda team who felt we were worthy of this prestigious nomination.”
