In, out, shake it all about? Ahead of next month’s ‘EU Referendum, an information evening and debate have been organised to help inform locals on Britain’s membership in the European Union.

With the EU Referendum just six weeks away, two events have been organised locally to help provide local residents with ‘unbiased information’ on what the European Union does – along with the chance to hear campaigners from both sides put their arguments forward.

On Wednesday 25th May a short presentation / Q&A session will take place at Wrexham Library, which will then be followed by a debate between both in and out campaigners.

The presentation will take place at 6pm where representatives from the Europe Direct Information Service will be on hand to give a short presentation telling you how the EU works and functions, what it does and what it is responsible for.

An hour later a debate on Britain’s membership of the EU will take place, with representatives from both sides of the argument putting their views across.

Both events have been organised by local campaigner, Andrew Atkinson, who said: “During my recent election campaign the EU came up a lot, with many local residents extremely concerned at the lack of unbiased information on which to make an informed decision.

“I spoke to a good number of people that would like information about the EU itself, everything from how it works to what its roles and functions are whilst others wanted more detailed information and would benefit from some well publicised debates with a non-adversarial nature from the speakers.”

“This is an extremely important decision and I will do all that I can to make sure that people get unbiased information to help shape their views.”

On the evening the Europe Direct information service based at Wrexham library will also be providing information booklets about how the EU works to anyone that is interested, as well as there being information tables from Stronger In and Vote Leave.

The EU referendum will take place on Thursday 23rd June.

You can book your place for the EU presentation at 6pm here. Places for the debate on Britain’s membership in the EU can be be booked here.
