IfYouKnowWrexham Hashtag Gives Town Insight

A hashtag on twitter has slowly been catching speed over the last twenty four hours – hitting full bore overnight – for those giving observations of things in and around Wrexham. It follows a few other towns and cities having similar hashtags this week.

For those twits who dont tweet – a hashtag is a way of marking a message content to allow easy searching on a theme. Thus those wanting to search for #IfYouKnowWrexham comments would search that hashtag, or click a hashtag in a tweet.

Most of the tweets came from Wrexhamians, with a few hijacked from elsewhere, and gave an insight to the ‘twitter concious’ perception of our town. Overall the few hundred we read were quite witty, stereotypical and perhaps negative – but appearing to have tongue stuck firmly in cheek, at least we hope.
