“If you do not need full emergency hospital treatment, please seek appropriate advice and care from other NHS services.”

The message from Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board has been issued to members of the public due to increased demand and an “extremely busy” Emergency Department at the Wrexham Maelor Hospital this afternoon.

At the time of writing the waiting times for the department is three and a half hours, with over 52 patients waiting to be seen.

Imran Devji, Managing Director at Wrexham Maelor Hospital, said: said: “Our Emergency Department in Wrexham has been very busy this afternoon and we are working closely with our partners in primary and community care to make sure people get the care and support they need in the right place as quickly as possible.

“If you do not need full emergency hospital treatment, please seek appropriate advice and care from other NHS services, including our minor injuries units, local pharmacists or by calling NHS Direct Wales on 0845 46 47.”
