Ice Warning For Monday Morning
A ‘severe’ ice warning has been issued for Sunday evening through to Monday morning by the MET Office.
Overnight through until around 10am will see temperatures drop below 0C for Wrexham and the surrounding area, prompting a weather warning.
The official warning reads: “Ice is likely to form on untreated surfaces, especially where rain, sleet and wet snow has fallen during Sunday. The public should be aware of the risk of difficult driving conditions and slippery surfaces which will last into Monday morning.”
Sunday has seen snowfall across the area, with several incidents reported including an overturned car near Llangollen and an incident near Moss Valley.
The amount of gritting has been debated, with some this morning questioning if the right routes and amounts had been done, and others warning of the ice under the snowfall.
@wrexham. Also wrexham ind est roads are mostly black ice, take care, no gritters out after weather warnings of freezing conditions.

@wrexham nice sunrise this morning, but some dodgy roads and down to 1 lane on bypasses. #lushmorning pic.twitter.com/vk9r7BNRaY

@wrexham to be fair, the gritters were out yesterday. I was stuck behind one on Cefn Road and saw plenty of others out and about.

Plus a few observations on how not to drive in the conditions:
@wrexham Wrexham winter driving. Letterbox windscreens, driving too fast, ungritted roads and 4×4 drivers who think they're invincible.

Others though embraced the snow and have had some fun:
@wrexham Great day sledging up the horseshoe pass. My little sister certainly enjoyed herself #snow #sledging pic.twitter.com/rL8s1Kau5x
