ITV’s Ibiza Weekender and Channel 5’s Celebrity Big Brothers very own Jordan Davies will be pushing the magic button on Thursday evening to switch on the town’s Christmas lights.

Jordan is in town as part of the Stiwt theatre and LHK production of Jack and the Beanstalk.

Organisers say they are expecting 8,000 to attend the Thursday event adding: “This years event is being run solely by Wrexham Glyndwr Rotary Club (group of volunteers giving up our time to help raise vital funds for charity) and for the third year running the light switch on will be completely non profit meaning everyone involved including all stars are not being paid and instead all monies will be donated to our chosen charity ‘Wrexham Homeless, People Helping People'”.

The light switch on will once again be presented by Heart North Wales featuring breakfast presenters Lois & Oli along with performances from The Phonics (UK’s No.1 Stereophonics tribute) & performances from “The Greatest Show”.

Also performing onstage are the Blue Genes family band, Coleg Cambria performing arts students, John Durham & Mia Lynch, Llangollen Young Un’s and even Heart radio’s Oli Kemp.

The night will be finished off with a huge firework display provided by Festival Fireworks.

There will also be fairground rides provided by Simons North Wales Funfairs, along with lots of festive stalls and the big man himself…”Father Christmas”.

The evening, sponsored by Wrexham Prestige Taxis and Parallel Security Ltd, is free to attend, but organisers add: “Help us raise much needed funds for Wrexham Homeless! Please dig deep into your pockets and donate to the volunteers with buckets, or visit the Rotary tent and lets help make a difference this Christmas because Rotary IS making a difference.”

Sam Foulkes, event manager said “The event is really coming together. The team of volunteers at the Rotary Club of Wrexham Glyndwr have been working hard behind the scenes to make this event spectacular in every way.

“This is the third year the Rotary Club have hosted the event raising thousands for charities locally in doing so. Last year was a huge success raising over £2000 for charity. This year all monies raised are going to Wrexham Homeless and we hope the local community in and around Wrexham will come out and support us.

“We have an action packed night of festive fun for all the family to enjoy. We have been working hard with the local council events team and local forces including the police, fire and rescue and St johns to ensure the event is safe and enjoyable for all attending.

“The Rotary club is currently also looking for new members, If you want to know more about us and what we do please do speak to one of the Rotarian’s in high viz jackets on the night!”.

Rotary is made up of 1.2million members worldwide from all different backgrounds, religions and race who meet on a regular basis to decide how they can make a difference in the world. All proceeds will go to the Rotary clubs chosen charity for this year, ‘Wrexham Homeless – People Helping People’ you can find out more on the Rotary facebook page here.
