Prospective students will have the chance to find out more about the courses and opportunities available at Wrexham Glyndwr University at a bumper open day event this weekend.
There will be a buzz around the Wrexham campus on Saturday 19th August, with lecturers and operational staff set to showcase the best the University has to offer to hundreds of visitors.
It has been a busy few months for Wrexham Glyndwr University which has increased its employability figure to 93% and gained a silver award in the prestigious TEF (Teaching Excellence Framework).
More recently it was revealed that 85% of students at the University are satisfied with teaching on their course, according to the National Student Survey (NSS). Overall satisfaction was 82%, based on the experiences of final year students in the 2016/17 academic year.
Professor Maria Hinfelaar, Vice-Chancellor, said: “It’s a great time to be joining us here at Wrexham Glyndwr University, and we look forward to demonstrating that at our open day this weekend.
“The campus is to undergo a revamp – starting with a £200,000 catering overhaul in the coming weeks – and we’ve seen a rise in some key areas, notably in getting our graduates into jobs.”
Professor Hinfelaar added: “There will be lots of things for prospective students and their families to see and do, as well as talking to lecturers about our wide range of courses and degrees, and finding out more about the accommodation and support services we provide.
“Our admissions team will also be on hand with help and advice for anyone in need of support after receiving their A level grades – please don’t hesitate to get in touch or visit us – we look forward to seeing you there on the day.”
Along with campus tours and interactive learning sessions, the open day will feature talks on entering higher education as a mature student and information about the University’s award-winning inclusion team.
There will also be lectures on youth and community work, occupational therapy, education, health and mental health, sports coaching and football, engineering and built environment, cyber security, arts, and counselling and psychotherapy.
While most of the action will be taking place on the main campus, there will also be the opportunity to visit the School of Creative Arts in Regent Street.
Meanwhile, summer school students were given a sneak preview of how the University’s rebranded food and drink facilities will look last week.
The new offering in the main restaurant will feature a daily ‘home comforts’ selection of food, along with a concept bar which will change daily in line with themes such as Mexican, American Diner and summer BBQ.
Wrexham Glyndwr University’s open day will take place to be held in the sports centre from 10am-2pm on Saturday 19th August.
