Update – we are told power was restored fully in the early hours of this morning.

Original information below

Several people have been in touch reporting a huge flash in the sky to the north of Wrexham, with a large bang accompanying it – followed by a power outage.

Update: SP Energy have said a ‘supply interruption’ in the LL12 postcode area has taken place.

“This has been caused by a fault on our network and is affecting properties in Maxwell Close, South View and the surrounding streets. We will attempt to reset the network to restore your supply remotely. Our next available Engineers will be attending site to investigate and repair the fault by 1.00AM.”

Some thought it could be part of a storm after the earlier bad weather up the coast, however with the power outage within seconds it appears likely it is a sub station issue.
