Happiness Is Up In Wrexham!
Today the Office Of National Statistics released figures on the happiness of places in the UK, with Wrexham included!
The figures are split into life satisfaction, worthwhile, happiness and anxiety with sample groups split into percentile sections. Wrexham was covered by a sample group of 792 people.
- Wrexham scores 7.5 out of 10 under life satisfaction, which is bang on the UK average. The question posed was “Overall, how satisfied are you with your life nowadays?”.
- Wrexham scores 7.7 out of 10 under ‘Worthwhile’, again on average for the UK. The question posed was “Overall, how worthwhile are the things that you do in your life?”.
- Wrexham scores 7.3 out of 10 for ‘Happiness’, again average! The question posed was “Overall, how happy did you feel yesterday?”.
- However for ‘anxiety’ Wrexham scores 0.1 over the national average with 3.1 out of 10. The question posed was “Overall, how anxious did you feel yesterday?”
The data (which can be found here on the ONS website) also references last year, showing that Wrexhamites are slightly happier this year, yet feel slightly less worthwhile about what they do in life.
The ONS said alongside the release of the data “The relationship between personal well-being and local circumstances is complex and the reasons why different areas of the UK have different levels of personal well-being is not yet fully understood. ONS plan to publish further analysis later this year looking in detail at how different aspects of where we live contribute to personal well-being.”
Hopefully everybody in Wrexham is happier today, as at least there is sunshine and blue(ish) skies!
