Housing plans for land behind Gresford petrol station submitted
Plans to develop four houses on land at the rear of a village petrol station have been put forward.
In an outline application submitted to Wrexham Council, planning permission is sought to demolish the ‘existing buildings associated with Balmuir Garage’ on Chester Road, Gresford and construct four dwellings on the site.
The application does not propose the demolition of the service station itself – rather the buildings at the rear of the site.
In May 2017 a similar application for the site was put forward, proposing that six properties were developed at the rear of the garage.
In the new application submitted to Wrexham Council it is stated that a ‘reduction in dwelling numbers will allow Highways to support the existing access as traffic movements will match the movements from the existing garage’.
If the revised application is approved, four, three bedroom properties will be built on the site.
The existing access point at the right hand side of the garage will be used as an exit/entrance to the new dwellings.
The application’s design and access statement concludes: “We feel this planning application should be looked favourably upon and granted permission as we feel there are no justifiable reasons for refusal.
“Development of this parcel of land within the community will vastly improve on the current characteristics of the site, improving on natural surveillance for the area.
“The proposal for four units will aid the local authority in the shortage of dwellings available in the county borough.”
The application is expected to be considered by Wrexham Council’s planning committee at a later date.
