Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board are urging people to think twice before attending A&E today, with three emergency departments in North Wales ‘extremely busy’.

The Health Board’s three Emergency Departments at Bangor, Bodelwyddan and Wrexham are all extremely busy today with a high number of attendances.

A statement released by the BCUHB notes: “We would ask members of the public to help the Health Board and think before attending A&E and only attend if they are seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

“We would also remind the public to support the NHS Wales’ Choose Well Campaign, and visit their Pharmacist, GP, or call NHS Direct Wales on 0845 46 47 for advice and treatment of most illnesses, including dental problems. T

“Treatment for minor injuries, such as cuts, bites, stings and muscle and joint injuries, can be provided at your local Minor Injuries Unit, where there is no need for an appointment. The North Wales GP Out of Hours Service is also available between 6.30pm and 8.00am Monday to Friday and all day and night at weekends and bank holidays. If you need to see a doctor during these times, phone 0300 123 55 66.”

Only dial 999 in a life-threatening emergency – remember to keep emergency ambulances for emergencies.
