Helicopter Activity In Wrexham Explained

Residents of Wrexham may have spotted two military helicopters flying over the area earlier this afternoon.

At around 2:20 this afternoon, two large helicopters were spotted hovering low over Wrexham town centre and the Wrexham Maelor.

There was some confusion as to what the helicopters were, with some people thinking it was the LLPD Chopper and others thinking Wrexham was under attack!

Lynne tweeted the above photo to Wrexham.com of the helicopter flying low over the Wrexham Maelor, while Dan tweeted to say: “The one before it was low enough that I could see the folks inside, and the markings. And could hear the blades.”

However RAF Benson, Support Helicopter Main Operating Base in Oxfordshire; home to the Merlin Force and Puma Force tweeted to say: “Just general training using authorised landing sites, although obviously beneficial for MERT too!”
