There is a larger than usual police presence in town this afternoon ahead of the Wrexham v Tranmere FA Trophy game.

Update midday: There appears to be police motorbikes on the A483/A55 Posthouse roundabout plus lots of police vehicles in Wrexham itself.

The yellow police vans that were parked at Glyndwr earlier are now across the way at the Maesgwyn being observed by those enjoying a pint.

Further towards town there are what appears to be police support units, with various protection gear, around Wrexham General awaiting the Tranmere fans. Several police vans are parked in the train station carpark.

Original information:
There are delays for motorists on the Chester Road area this afternoon due to a ‘heavy police presence’.

Multiple police vans, believed to be Merseyside Police, have been seen outside Nine Acre Field on Chester Road this morning.

As a result of the police presence there are some minor delays for those travelling to and from town.

There has also been a large police presence on Mold Road and at the University ahead of Wrexham’s match against Tranmere Rovers this afternoon.
