A ‘Healthy High Streets’ Campaign is under way in Wrexham following a successful bid for a Community Grant.

Senior staff from Santander, M&S, The Cooperative Group and Boots UK were in Wrexham town this week to see for themselves the work being undertaken as part of the Healthy High Streets Campaign following the Council’s successful bid for a Business in the Community Grant.

Under the initiative the Town Centre Management Team will have access to a tailor-made package of business support and expertise to help make our high streets healthier and more attractive.

Cllr Mark Pritchard, Leader of the council, said: “A lot of work has gone into our town centre to increase footfall in recent months and we are very grateful for the support of Business in the Community. We look forward to working together in the future.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank staff and traders for their hard work during the very successful Small Business Saturday.”

The retailers involved are leading the Healthy High Streets Campaign, which is supporting 100 high streets in the UK. They aim to increase footfall by 10% and reduce empty property units by 20%.

Their ambition is to create 3,000 jobs across the chosen towns over 3 years.
