Get ready for a spooktacular day of celebrations with a bumper day of Halloween activities taking place across the town centre this weekend.

The Halloween fun kicks off from 10am tomorrow morning with businesses across the town centre getting in the scary celebrations!

Take a trip to Wrexham’s three indoor markets where the Halloween celebrations will be in full swing. Start your day with a visit to the People’s Market on Chester Street for scary animal handling some terrifying tales by the Story Teller.

You can also help The Wrexham Independent Gallery to create a special Wrexham Halloween community painting and join in the Halloween art workshop at the Oriel Gallery.

Just around the corner take a visit to the General Market on Henblas Street for some free painting and a browse through a range of spoooooky fancy dress costumes before popping across the street to the Butchers Market for a day of Halloween themed crafts for all ages.

The ghoulish events coincide with the return of the monthly Wrexham Street Festival which as usual will see local independent traders on Regent Street and Hope Street. Outside QD Stores, Splash Magic instructors will also be delivering a free join in zumba session at 11.30 am.

The terrifying Henblas Street is hosting a Halloween fancy dress competition – arrive any time between 11 am and 4 pm to be judged and have your photograph taken on the ‘spooky stage’. Simon O’Rourke will be doing an amazing Halloween wood carving live at 1 pm.

You’ll find the Woodland Trust, the UK’s largest woodland conservation charity, here too and you can join in with bark rubbing and making crowns and wands from willow on their stall.

Just seed will also be there with some of their seed range and will be able to offer tips and advice on growing from seed. You can also take part in fun apple bobbing.

If all that wasn’t enough a wealth of town centre traders have joined forces to bring you the first ‘Trick or Treat Trail’ – each business taking part will have a sign in the window, so keep an eye out.

Businesses taking part include ones in the Bus Station, Chester Street, Henblas Street, Bank Street, Lord Street, Egerton Street, Yorke Street and Regent Street – and of course the town’s markets. We encourage all readers to have a walk through the town and enjoy the shop fronts!

Local Conservative campaigner Andrew Atkinson, who has led a group of local volunteers to arrange Saturday’s Street Festival Halloween fun said: “We’d love to see as many local people as possible coming into town on Saturday to join in the Halloween fun and support Wrexham town centre. You’ll find everything you need for Halloween in the town centre shops and the markets.

“The monthly Street Festivals have built up huge momentum this year and there’s going to be so much going on that I am sure everyone will have a spooktastic time.”
