Half Term Fun Across Wrexham County Borough!

Looking for something to do to keep the children entertained over the Half Term Week? There are loads of events taking place across the County Borough over the next week!

Wrexham’s Family Information Service (WFIS) has released their Half Term Activities Pack ahead of the half-term period.

The free pack features a comprehensive guide of children’s activities taking place across the county borough.

You can pick up a copy of the Half Term Activities Pack by popping into the WFIS office, based at Wrexham Library, by calling 01978 292094 or by emailing [email protected]

Saturday 28 May – Saturday 4 June 2016

Swamp Land: Brymbo 300 million years ago. An exhibition by WCBC Museum and Archives. An opportunity to discover Brymbo’s amazing window into the deep past. Beautifully preserved plant fossils will help you to imagine what it was like in the other worldly landscape of a 300 million year old coal swamp, the home of giant insects and monster mosses.

Dedicated exclusively to the story of the Brymbo Fossil Forest, this exhibition is a partnership between Wrexham Museums, Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales and the Brymbo Heritage Group. The exhibition is free. Available all half time is a Fossil Finders trail for children. Young volunteers will also be on duty at the Museum on Thursday with the handling trolley giving an opportunity to see some of the museum collection objects. On the County Borough Museum’s Forecourt there’s an opportunity to see a few local fire engine vintage super stars and a modern fire engine and meet its crew at the CALL 999 event taking place between 11am and 1pm. Contact 01978 297460 for further information.

Piccolos Music and The Story Teller will be appearing at the monthly Wrexham Street Festival, telling stories in the main entertainment area. Piccolos Crafts will also have a street stall at the Festival.

Homestart will be holding their Family Fun Day at Bellevue Park between 11 am and 3 pm. there will be fun for all the family including a fun fair, ice cream, crafts, cakes, face and nail painting, glitter tattoos, a penalty shoot out, stalls, Zumba demonstrtion plus lots more. Ty Mawr Country park are holding their annual Sheep Shearing and Woolly Wonders event between 1.30 and 3.30 pm. You can wtach sheep being sheared and the wool being spun. There’s an opportunity to have a guided tour of Bersham Ironworks between 10.30 am and 12.00 pm. Made famous by John “Iron Mad” Wilkinson, a leading figure in the Industrial Revolution, the once noisy Bersham Ironworks now nestles quietly in the attractive Clywedog Valley, two miles outside Wrexham. Brymbo Enterprise Centre, are holding a nearly new sale between 2.00 pm and 6.00 pm to help families buy and sell baby and toddler clothes, toys, games, prams and equipment. Dynamic will be holding their Family Fund Day at Alyn Waters Country park between 11 am and 4 pm to celebrate their 20 Anniversary.
