From Thursday 23 May, Grove Park Theatre in Wrexham presents Lovers by Brian Friel. Lovers is a play in two parts – ‘Winners’ and ‘Losers’ – from one of Ireland’s most respected and revered writers.

Winners follows the story of teenage lovers Joe and Mag, who are expecting a baby. Disgraced and shunned by their schools, the young couple are attempting to forge a life together against terrible odds. Sitting together on a hill, they should be revising for exams, but find themselves talking about life in general before taking a decision that will have dramatic consequences.

Losers is the tale of two older lovers, Hanna and Andy, who are trying to forge a relationship in spite of provocation and interference from family. Religion, love and family ties come into question as this beautiful and lyrical play asks – who are the real winners and losers in love?

The show runs until Saturday June 1 and tickets can be booked on 01978 351091 or by visiting the theatre’s website.
