Thousands of food lovers descended on the town centre this weekend to visit the annual Wrexham Food Festival.

As with previous years, the popular event held in aid of Nightingale House Hospice took place in a big marquee which had been pitched up on Llwyn Isaf (Library field) for the weekend.

Inside the tent was a range of stalls selling everything from chilli jam, artisan ice cream, Wrexham school dinners, home made bread, wine and cheeses.

Chocolate-Fruit

Volette cupcakes seemed to be a popular choice for many visitors – so naturally we stocked up on one or two cakes ourselves!

Outside there were a range of stalls selling cuisines from around the world, with American Street Food, Vietnamese noodles, pasta / meatballs / spaghetti and tasty delights from Germany were all on offer.

More locally the winners of the Wrexham Burger Challenge – The Royal Oak in Bangor-on-Dee were also on hand selling their delicious lamb burgers; which of course we sampled along with a glass of Wrexham Lager.

Across the weekend there were a number of live food cookery demo’s taking place in a separate tent, including sessions from  Luke Thomas, Robert Didier – Orchard Pigs, Paul Prescott – Grosvenor Pulford Hotel & Spa

Council run car parks across the town centre were also packed – courtesy of the free parking that was on offer by Wrexham Council. This appeared to have quite a positive impact on the footfall to the Food Festival and also to the number of people who also popped into town to do some shopping.

Free-Parking

The Council run car parks in the town centre were the busiest we had seen them in a while – particularly on Sunday which is known for being a somewhat quieter day in the town.

Overall the response online and from those visiting the event throughout the day seems to be largely positive, with many enjoying what has become a staple part of Wrexham’s calender.
