A junction in Gresford has a fresh set of road markings after a mystery individual took it upon themselves to reline the tarmac.

The lines have been painted on the junction of Clappers Lane / Gresford Road and Chester Road, in what was described to us today as a ‘notorious junction’.

As those following some of our updates earlier will know we have been out and about talking to various people in several electoral wards today, and in Gresford were pointed to check out the recent street painting.

An issue was arising without the lines where drives would be unsure which part of the junction to use, with some nose-to-nose stand offs taking place. More seriously we are told a few ‘near misses’ have also occurred, with enough concern for someone to take matters into their own hands with the spray paint.

The identity of the local road rembrandt is unknown, or at least a closely guarded secret. We are told there has been similar highway activity, with an unverified report a speed bump was rumoured to have been mysteriously removed recently as well.

As our pictures show the lines are marked over the route of the previous markings, and do have an impressive straight edge.

The below Google Streetview image shows in 2014 the lines were fading, with images in 2011 showing them freshly painted.

Nearby in Marford we spotted this contender for the most blocked drain in Wrexham:
