Former Golf Clubhouse Could Be Converted To Office Space
A redundant golf clubhouse in Wrexham could be converted into office space if planning proposals are passed.
In an application submitted to Wrexham Council it is proposed that a former clubhouse at Darland Golf Club is turned into general office space.
The golf course closed several months ago and the clubhouse has remained vacant since. Within the application’s accompanying documents it states that the clubhouse is ‘deteriorating’ and that a new tenant will ‘care for the building’ and halt the ‘deterioration and the decline’.
There will be no changes made either internally or externally to the property.
Due to the size of the property it is hoped that office space will appeal to small or medium sized businesses, as well as attracting local businesses which would otherwise commute further afield.
It is not known how many employees will occupy the offices – however it is anticipated that it will be fewer than ten.
Within the application’s Design and Access Statement it notes: “The change of use proposed is modest and will make good use of an otherwise redundant building and provide employment opportunities for the community.
“The access is safe and the use is economically, socially and environmentally sustainable. The site is effectively brownfield and no new build is proposed that would look out of place or impact on the environment or local ecology.”
The planning application is expected to go before Wrexham’s Planning Committee at a later date.
