Glyndwr University To Showcase New Courses

A week-long series of events will showcase a number of new courses and innovative developments at Glyndŵr University.

The university’s annual Open Week takes place from Monday January 20 to Friday January 24, at campuses in Wrexham and Northop. From 10:00am – 2.30pm each day, prospective students, school pupils and members of the public can visit Glyndŵr to discover more about what’s on offer from this September.

New courses (subject to validation) include Chemistry with Green Nanotechnology, Sport Leadership and Development, Computer Game Development, Immersive Technology, Marketing and Consumer Psychology, Global Business, and Sports Management.

Andy Cairns, event organiser and team coordinator for Partnerships, Recruitment and Admissions, said: “Open Week is always popular as it gives prospective students an opportunity to see what new courses we have here at Glyndŵr University, as well as having a look around our facilities.

“It’s also a chance to meet lecturers and staff who can talk them through what to expect if they join us this September.”
Places are still available on several courses and Glyndŵr is happy to accept applications after this Wednesday’s (January 15) UCAS deadline.

“With a range of exciting new initiatives, including foundation years on many courses, employability work placements providing paid experience to new first year students, and a competitive fees package – with prices starting from as little as £5,400 for a foundation degree – there are plenty of reasons for students to make Glyndŵr their university of choice,” said Andy.

“Choosing a university and a course is one of the most important decisions they will ever make, so taking the time to come along and see what we do is important.”

Each day will start at 10am in the main reception of the relevant campus, where registration and a brief introduction will take place.

There will then be a range of subject specific taster and information sessions directly relevant to students’ course/s of interest – these could cover content of specific subjects, career opportunities, talks by current students or sample lectures and workshops.

Presentations from student support teams with advice and guidance on a range of services, from personal statements workshops to careers advice and how to make a university application, are also popular.
