Glyndwr University Submit Further Response In Fraudulent Visa Investigation
Glyndwr University has submitted a second response to the UK Visa and Immigration service following allegations of fraudulent language tests.
Earlier this month it was announced that Glyndwr University had been granted a further extension to respond to issues raised by UKVI (UK Visa and Immigration), with a response deadline set for today.
Glyndwr University was stripped of its Highly Trusted Sponsor Status in June 2014 following allegations that around 230 had submitted fraudulent English Language certificates.
The suspension of the Highly Trusted Sponsor Status prevents the University from sponsoring any new international students.
Around a third of Glyndwr’s 9000 students are non-EU, with around 2000 of those based in the London campus.
The suspension came as part of a nationwide investigations into allegations that some students had been using fraudulent English Language tests to gain their visas. Glyndwr University was one of three universities and 57 private colleges to have had their licences either suspended or temporarily suspended.
Initially a decision on the future of the University’s sponsorship status was due in August, however extensions have been added since to allow for clarifications and feedback,
A Glyndwr University spokesperson said: “Glyndwr University has today submitted its response to the issues raised by the UKVI regarding the current suspension of the University’s HTS licence. The University remains in positive discussions with the UKVI.”
UKVI now has up to 20 working days to respond to Glyndwr University,
