The queues at Tesco as of 8pm tonight

Yesterday we covered the fuel panic that developed across Wrexham, with initally no problems however an afternoon of local and national media and policital hype creating queues at fuel stations. You can read our coverage of yesterday here.

We will keep this page updated today with further details as and when we get it:

8am – queues appear at most petrol stations as people try to top up before work. Sainsburys tell customers that they are expecting a delivery today. Tesco in town had no diesel.

9.30am – Morrisons has fuel. There are also no queues in Johnstown and a tanker was seen delivering fuel this morning. Both garages in Acton Smithy are out of fuel. ASDA and TESCO have ‘huge queues’ – however there is a fuel tanker at Tesco right now.

11:30am – Things seem alot calmer around town now but still queues in certain places and some deliveries have not yet occured. Clare Griffiths has been in touch saying Gwersyllt Shell is limiting people to a £20 spend.

1pm – It seems lunchtime has been the time that people have nipped out to get some fuel, as queues reported around Tesco out to the roundabout again!

2pm – Still queues at the major supermarkets eg. Tesco Asda and Sainsburys. Pat Derosa’s on Chester Rd has ‘no fuel’ signs up. Easy in Rhostyllen is out of diesel.

4:30pm – Post work queues starting to form again in Tesco…

5:45pm – Mold Road Shell garage has been totally closed now, and queues still around the major supermarkets.

6:15pm – Sainsburys now only has super unleaded and diesel left, and queues are still at most with petrol.

6:37pm – Sainsburys petrol station CLOSED no more fuel (thanks to @kafpearson!)

7pm – Unleaded seems in short supply, and some petrol stations now have security guards out and are issuing raffle tickets to ration the flow! Tesco is still open – however ASDA and Sainsburys petrol stations are closed.

7:15pm – with ASDA / Sainsburys closed, Morrisons and Tesco are both getting busier but both still have fuel.

7:45pm – Texaco in Gresford is out of Diesel. Steve Carlton tweeted to say Tesco was ‘like a scene from Mad Max 2’ with people filling cans up and struggling to use the pay at pump machines. Hold Rd garage is rationing people to £20 a fill maximum. Traffic from Tesco queues is causing a nightmare around the roundabout and that end of town.

8pm – Some good news – Morrisons had a tanker in there at 7.15pm tonight so ought to have some fuel there! We have added a picture at the top of the article of the view at Tesco right now, jam packed, and below is a couple of pictures as of 8pm of the queue at Morrisons. Reports of people filling cars and cans as well.

10pm – Morrisons employee Debbie Edwards has been in touch and told us that Morrisons ought not  be affected by any strikes if they occur as they use separate supplies.

We would urge people not to panic, and take their usual fuel loads.
