Fresh Hope For Wrexham Remploy? Company Asked To Submit Revised Bid
A company whose bid for Wrexham’s Remploy factory was turned down have been asked to submit a revised bid it has been revealed today.
Yesterday we reported how workers at the factory had been told that the factory would close on 16th August following last week’s announcement by the UK government that they had rejected Disability Employment Limited’s initial bid for the factory.
However, following discussion between Wrexham MP Ian Lucas and Remploy Chief Executive Tim Matthews last night it appears there may be fresh hope for the bid.
Mr Lucas said this morning: “After discussions with workers, Remploy and with Disability Employment Limited, and taking into account the announcement made this week by the Welsh Government, Remploy have suggested that Disability Employment Limited submit a revised proposal.”
Meetings had previously been held between Wrexham Council, Glyndwr University, Yale College and the private bidder to secure the company’s future in the town.
Workers at the Wrexham Remploy plant are among those across the country who are on strike today and Mr Lucas visited them on their picket line this morning to lend his support.
