Free Weekend As Techniquest Celebrates 10 Years Of Science Discovery

Science discovery centre Techniquest Glyndŵr (TQG) is opening its doors for free to celebrate its 10th year and say thank you to all of its visitors.

This weekend admission will be completely free, with guests able to get hands-on with the 65+ exhibits in the centre, and see the live science show “10 of the Best”.

Throughout the weekend there will also be a bridge building challenge, a bouncy castle, prize giveaways and face painting.

Mandy Jones, operations manager, said: “I’ve been with TQG since the beginning and it has been wonderful to see this fantastic organisation develop and grow in its first ten years.

“I’m really looking forward to welcoming as many visitors as we can to the centre for this celebratory weekend of free activities.”

Her Majesty the Queen and Prince Phillip opened TQG in June 2003, with the mission of engaging school pupils and visitors in the world of science and technology.

Since then the organisation’s scope has widened, with activities delivered to older students, and activities being taken out to schools and events across north Wales and north-west England.

In recent years TQG has developed many industrial partnerships with companies including Toyota and Airbus, as well as being named one of the first hubs of the Welsh Government’s National Science Academy. Last year saw the opening of TQG’s LEGO Education INNOVATION STUDIO, which brings robotics and programming to pupils in a fun and engaging way.

The centre is open all year Tuesday to Friday from 10am and weekends from 11am. It’s also open on Bank Holidays and Mondays during school holidays. Last admission is 3.30pm. For more information, including opening times, visit the website www.tqg.org.uk
