Free school payments will be issued to parents and guardians during the half-term and firebreak period in Wrexham.

The payments, which were introduced in May, replaced ‘grab-and-go’ packed lunches system for pupils that were introduced at the start of the pandemic.

If you are a parent or a guardian of a child who qualifies for free school meals during term-time, you will receive a direct payment into your back account to cover the half-term

The first payment will be made on Monday October 26, and will cover the first week of the holiday.

If your children are at home for a second week (years 9, 10 and 11 of secondary school) Wrexham Council will make a second payment the following week.

A spokesperson for Wrexham Council added: “If your children have to isolate for 10 days at any point please don’t worry, we’ll make payments to your bank account to cover the isolation period.

“This will help you provide meals for your children while they’re at home.

“If you have any questions or need any help, please get in touch.”

Earlier this month it was announced that free school meal provision in Wales would be made available for all school holidays up to and including Easter 2021.
