Free parking in all Council-owned car parks for an annual food and drink festival has been recognised as contributing to its success.

The Wrexham Food and Drink Festival, which took place on Llwyn Isaf on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th May, attracted thousands of people to the town over the two day period.

Organised by Nightingale House Hospice, all proceeds from the annual festival go towards the hospice.

Area Fundraiser for Wrexham Luke McDonald has written to Wrexham Council’s Lead Member for Environment and Transport, Cllr David A Bithell, to officially thank him for arranging for the weekend’s car parking to be free.

In a letter he said: “Without your invaluable all round support with the car parking we would more than likely see a drop in numbers to the festival.”

In response, Cllr David A Bithell, said: “I’m grateful that Luke has taken the time to recognise the contribution that has been made by the Council in supporting this very important and popular local Food Festival.

“The money raised helps local families at a very difficult time in their lives. I certainly hope we will continue this initiative next year.”
