After the success of the Wales team, and huge event last night at the Racecourse, calls have become louder for a fanzone – with a limited capacity free event now confirmed!

Wrexham’s Central Station venue have confirmed they’ll provide a 500 capacity Fan Zone at the venue on Hill Street in the town centre on Wednesday night for the Wales v Portugal game.

The event is 500 capacity on a first come first served basis with doors opening at 6:30pm for the 8pm kick off.

Responding to the news reported last week by us – where it was established that following a week long consultation with WCBC and an independent Safety Advisory Group, that an outdoor Fan Zone could not be safely delivered at short notice – Central Station, working alongside the team behind the FOCUS Wales festival, have taken steps to offer a solution at the venue, offering the opportunity for 500 supporters to gather and enjoy the game together.

Central Station are installing a raised large HD screen above the stage where bands would ordinarily perform, providing a great view for the game, and the venue’s powerful sound system will ensure you’ll feel right in the heart of the action.

There will also be screens by the bars in the venue, so that you don’t have to worry about missing anything important.

Andrew Atkinson, who helped with the previous attempt, said: “We really tried every avenue to establish an outdoor fan zone in the town but it was just not possible to satisfy the safety concerns to make it happen. FOCUS Wales and Central Station were a part of our team to put on the event in the beginning, and them stepping in like this is just fantastic and means we can have a significant event in the town centre and in a safe environment.”

Entry to the FanZone is completely free of charge, and with kick off at 8pm, fans can access the venue from 6:30pm allowing you to soak up the pre-match excitement.

As the organisers say…. “See you all there! #TogetherStronger”

The Facebook event page can be found here.

Town of course has several venues with the screens on, including Saith Seren, The Bank (you need to be on the guestlist!), Lloyds etc – and of course if and when we win the High Street will no doubt become the public celebration centre of choice again!
