Fraud warning over bogus caller claiming to be from North Wales Police

North Wales Police have issued a fraud warning following reports of a man approaching businesses for sponsorship money.

The man, who is using the name Mark Shepard, is identifying himself as an employee of North Wales Police.

He has approached businesses for sponsorship money “to facilitate a crime prevention campaign involving young children and schools.”

However police have confirmed today that the man as “no connection to North Wales Police”.

A statement released by North Wales Police today reads: “Please report any suspicious contact with this person or a company stating that they are affiliated with North Wales Police to the Force Control room via 101.”
