Fourth ‘Bubble Match’ Planned For Upcoming Wrexham/Chester Match
The upcoming Wrexham v Chester match will once again see ‘safe travel measures’ implemented for fans travelling into the town for the game.
Yesterday a joint statement was released by Wrexham and Chester Football Clubs, North Wales Police and Cheshire Police confirming that the match on Saturday March 7th would be a ‘safe travel / Bubble Match’.
A kick off time of 1pm has also been agreed.
The upcoming match between the two rival teams will be the fourth ‘Bubble Match’ to take place, with the first convoy of buses transporting Chester fans to Wrexham back in 2013. However this will be the first time the Bubble has returned to Wrexham since then.
In total 1,200 tickets have been allocated to Chester supporters for this game, the Clubs will be announcing the detailed ticketing arrangements in due course on their websites.
Previously Bubble Matches have been heavily criticised by some supporters, with a petition launched last year calling for North Wales and Cheshire Police to reconsider their stance on the safe transport measures.
The statement reads: “Following on from meetings held between Wrexham and Chester Football Clubs, North Wales Police and Cheshire Police in July 2014 it was decided then that both games between the clubs this season would, in the interests of safety be all ticket matches with away fans travelling to the game on officially organised supporters’ coaches.
“These measures are intended to help to make the event safe and enjoyable for everyone, whilst minimising any potential disruption to local communities, businesses and the general public.
“Planning for the fixture continues, involving both Clubs along with North Wales and Cheshire Police and other agencies.”
