A warning about the impact of arson has been issued after North Wales Fire and Rescue Service were called to four deliberate fires last night.

At 7:13pm last night fire crews were called to a tree fire in Erddig which had been started deliberately.

The fire was contained to the three and one crew from Wrexham attended the incident.

A second hedge was also set alight in Caego last night. The fire was out when crews arrived and has been treated as deliberate ignition.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service have since put a warning online about the risk of social media, posting on Facebook to say: “We attended several deliberate fires in Wrexham last night which put lives at risk & tied up resources.”

Advice on the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service website says: “As a consequence of Arson crime, an investigation will take place for each incident to collate information to build a case against the fire setter. If found guilty the person will be prosecuted, fined and maybe even sentenced dependant on the crime.

Consequences of deliberate fire setting:-

– Endangers life – a delay in attending an incident where a rescue is required could have serious consequences.
– Implications to the fire setter – a fine, may effect future employment and finding accomodation.
– Financial costs to the fire and rescue service
– Financial costs to other emergency services
– Environmental Damage

Earlier this morning Wrexham.com reported that the fire service had been called to two caravans last night. Both incidents left the caravans destroyed.
