Former Staff & Pupils at Wrexham Playgroup Sought to Create 50th Anniversary Memory Book
One of Wrexham’s oldest playgroups is turning 50 this year and to mark the occasion a big birthday party and commemorative ‘Memory Display’ are being planned.
Staff at Garden Village Preschool Playgroup on Wat’s Dyke Way, are appealing to former members of staff, committee members, parents or children to help them create a ‘Memory and Photo Display’ to commemorate their 50th Anniversary in June.
Established in 1966 Garden Village Preschool Playgroup is one of the oldest playgroups in Wrexham and it is hoped that a timeline of the past 50 years can be created with the help of those who used to attend and be a part of the facility.
Play Worker Charlotte Robertson said: “This is a really big year for Garden Village Playgroup and we’re hoping to get as many memories as we can from former members of staff, children and parents to help us document how much the Playgroup has grown over the past 50 years.
“We’re looking for a few lines or anecdotes from people’s time at the Playgroup – along with copies of photos or newspaper clippings of the Playgroup.
“We can’t wait to celebrate our 50th Anniversary and we hope that children and staff past and present can come together to help us mark this very special occasion.”
The display will be featured at the Playgroup’s 50th Anniversary Celebrations, which will take place on the Garden Village Green on Saturday 18th June.
Plans are already underway for the 50th Anniversary of Garden Village Playgroup, with a special Princess and Superhero theme planned to celebrate the event.
Along with fancy dress there will also be fairground rides, a balloon race, craft and food stalls and live entertainment throughout the day.
