A large town centre property is set for sale via auction this month.

The Brook Street property is described as, “A vacant town centre property extending to approximately 787 square metres. The property has been previously used a bar / restaurant venue but offers scope to suit a variety of future uses, subject to any necessary consents.”

Chicago Rock Cafe closed in May 2013 after administrators were appointed to then owners Atmosphere Bars and Clubs.

Internally the building has some familiar features to former regulars, with some items leftover from the closure of the ‘cafe’ with decorations still up and one report of some tableware still out.

The sale also includes the freehold of the adjoining building, Atik Nightclub, however that was effectively sold off in 2006 for a 999 year lease.

The guide price is £150,000 however anecdotally we are told two local prospective bidders the rateable value, currently £92,500, has put off their interest.

The auction starts on the 23rd and ends the day after on Wednesday 24th March.
