A Freedom of Information request by Wrexham.com to North Wales Police has revealed the highest recorded speeds in North Wales since January 2011.

The FOI asked for a specific breakdown on the highest speed recorded by speed cameras and their location. The results show the highest listed speeds in North Wales since January 2011, with the most recent speed recorded at 81mph in Colwyn Bay last December.

However the results do not show the frequency of how often the speeds were checked, so can only give an indication of the speed rather than a direct month on month comparison.

The monthly results show that from the start of 2011 to the end of 2012, Wrexham had the highest logged speed 3 times.

The results show that in 2011 Wrexham was top twice in the monthly charts, with a speed of 91mph recorded in February in Halton (Chirk) with another recording in August with 108mph noted on the A483 in Rossett. This speed was the highest recording in 2011, followed by a logging of 107mph on the A5 in Conwy.

However in 2012, Wrexham had the highest recording only once, with a speed of 96mph registered again on the A483 in Rossett.

The highest speed recorded in North Wales was 125mph on the A5 near Corwen, a spot that appears popular for high speeders in North Wales.
