Focus Wales Announces Industry Conference And Workshop Line Up
A brand new music showcase event taking place in Wrexham has announced its industry conference and workshop line ups.
Focus Wales will take place in Wrexham town centre over the 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st April with a large number of bands playing at venues and locations across town.
The conference element of this year’s event will take place at The Grove Park Theatre and Glyndwr University’s brand new £5m Centre For the Creative industries.
They will both play host to panel sessions throughout the day on Thursday 19th and Friday 20th April presented by Focus Wales, Welsh Music Foundation and Glyndwr University.
Panel sessions begin at the Centre For The Creative Industries on Thursday 19th from mid afternoon, where the expert panel will discuss the future of live music at the building’s impressive foyer space.
This will be followed by a special live performance from Welsh singer songwriter and harpist Georgia Ruth at the centre’s purpose built television studio.
The sessions continue on Friday 20th at the newly refurbished Grove Park Theatre, Hill St Wrexham.
Opening with a discussion on entrepreneurship in the modern music industry and followed by a special digital Marketing workshop, presented in partnership with Welsh Music Foundation and Good Lizard Media.
Good Lizard Media run the digital training sessions for AIM and have trained some of the biggest independent labels and distributors in the world.
As an agency, the company are responsible for digital strategy at Wichita Recordings, home to The Cribs, Simian Mobile Disco, First Aid Kit, The Bronx, The Prodigy, Underworld, The Subways, Chicane and many more.
Panel speakers at this year’s event include John Hywel Morris of PRS For Music, Mark Durston promoter of Glass Butter Beach Festival and founder of Wakestock, Al Farquhar of Modern Art artist management, and James Hannam of PRS For Music Foundation
Overall Focus Wales will feature live performances from over 80 music acts including The Whip, Jodie Marie, Jamie Smith’s Mabon, Race Horses and Bastion.
Weekend wristbands are available now at £22.00 each and permit access to every venue on every show day (subject to capacity).
